Deduplication and compression
Modern backup does not store all data from scratch every time. Deduplication and incremental backups significantly reduce actual storage requirements and make backups considerably more economical.

Not every incident requires restoring an entire VM. Granular restoration at file or object level saves time and reduces actual downtime in an emergency.

What we always recommend: test your restoration before you need it. On request we carry out regular restore tests and document them for audits and internal evidence. A backup that has never been tested is not a backup. For us that is not just a phrase, it is lived practice.
